Feluda returns with Kailashe Kelenkari, Sandip Ray’s second adaptation from his father Satyajit Ray's famous Feluda series of detective stories. This film brings a redolence of much-needed fresh air to a somewhat lapidified presumptive Bengali cinema. No glamour, no burlesque show, only a pinch of coercion and no crime of passion—does not quite fulfill the criterions of a detective film. But Satyajit Ray created Feluda and the rest is history.
The film has a cinematic opening with a plane crashing into the plains of West Bengal, killing all on board including a foreigner (Tom Alter). This foreigner had with him the 'head' cut adrift from a statue in a celebrated temple in Orissa. This incident embarks the entry of detective Prodosh Mitter aka Feluda (cast: Sabyasachi Chakrabarty) whose, resplendence and detective prowess bewitches one and all.
